In 2006 Newbury Township Trustees purchased the 3.3 acre lot at the intersection of Route 87 and Auburn Road. Their collective dream was not only to create a defining landmark but also an enduring memorial honoring our resident's service to their country.
Like everyone; the Township has had to deal with the harsh realities of an ever changing economy and while this vision became tabled we never lost sight of our goal.
Last November, at the urging of Senator John Eklund, we were encouraged to apply for a capital improvement grant. Hundreds of communities across the State became competitor's for the chance to fulfill their vision.
Today we are excited to announce that with Senator Ekland's help we have been awarded a $25,000.00 grant to help fund this project. In addition to Senator Eklund we'd also like to thank Wayne Impulitti, President of Impulitti Landscaping for providing the landscape design.
Our dream becomes reality as following the Memorial Day service at Newbury's Center Cemetery we will break ground with a formal dedication this November on Veteran's Day. Please plan on joining us for this exciting commencement.
While this is just the visible start of this project, the completion will only be possible with community support. Please let us know how you can help
