Trustees special meeting July 2, 2012

A special meeting of the Board of Township Trustees, Newbury Township was called to order at 7:00PM, Monday, July 2, 2012 with all members present with the exception of Fiscal Officer, Marcia Mansfield.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the potential sale of the Newbury Township Grange Park parcel. In attendance for The Shooting Range, Inc. was Jodie Swartout, Ronald Hopkin, & Jim Pracker.
Mrs. Swartout said she planned to build a shooting range on the property and employ approximately 30 people and that other townships were interested in the project. She presented a second appraisal which showed $150,000 minus the cost of the drive of $60,000 for an estimated value of $90,000. She then proceeded to hold to her last offer of $139, 500.
At this time Chairperson, Jan Blair called for an executive session to discuss the offer. Upon returning from Executive session the meeting was called back to order. On behalf of the Newbury Trustees Chairperson, Ms. Blair, made a counter offer of $160,000. In response to the offer, Mr. Hopkin stated that this was not negotiations. Mr. Quigley proceeded to state this was exactly the case. Ms. Blair requested that the potential buyers go into executive session to further discuss the Township’s offer. Mrs. Swartout stated there would be no further discussions or offers at this time. Mr. Skomrock stated that we represent the taxpayer’s best interest.
The meeting adjourned at 7:35PM upon a motion by Mr. Quigley, a second by Mr. Skomrock, and a unanimous affirmative vote.
