Trustees meeting Oct. 26, 2011

A special meeting of the Board of Township Trustees, Newbury Township, held at the Newbury High School cafeteria was called to order at 7:30 p.m., with Mr. Snively and Ms. Blair present. Purpose of this meeting was to conduct a vote of the trustees on the question of turning responsibility for maintenance of the segment of Munn Road located north of Bell St. currently maintained by the township over to the responsibility of the Geauga County Engineer. After noting that Mr. Skomrock was unable to attend this meeting due to a long-planned vacation, Mr. Snively noted that this section of Munn Road had not been included in the most recent list of current county roads as submitted by the County Engineer and recently acknowledged by the Geauga County Commissioners. Mr. Snively next read Mr. Lair's letter expressing appreciation to the board for the trustees’ process of carefully looking at all of the issues relating to this proposed change prior to taking a final action.
Ms. Blair made a motion that the section of Munn Road currently handled by the township not be turned over to Geauga County for maintenance responsibility. Mr. Snively seconded this motion, which passed by a unanimous affirmative vote.
Ms. Blair announced the creation of the Munn Road Solutions Team, with the first meeting to be held on November 12, 2011. Mr. Hudak then spoke briefly about what the group was going to work on. This meeting was adjourned at 7:48 p.m., upon a motion by Ms. Blair, a second by Mr. Snively, and a unanimous affirmative vote.
