Trustee Minutes 04/15/2015

The regularly scheduled meeting of Newbury Township Trustees was called to order at 7:00 p.m., April 15, 2015, with Glen Quigley  and Jan Blair present.

 

Ms. Mansfield requested the minutes from March 25, 2015 special meeting with the Zoning Commission and the March 31, 2015 meeting be approved as presented.  Motion to approve the minutes was made by Ms. Blair, 2nd by Mr. Quigley, and a unanimous affirmative vote by all.

 

Ms. Mansfield presented the March 31, 2015 financials, motion to accept financials as presented was made by Ms. Blair, 2nd by Mr. Quigley and a unanimous affirmative vote by all.

 

Wicked Woods liquor license permit no hearing is required motion for no hearing was made by Ms. Blair, 2nd Mr. Quigley and a unanimous affirmative vote by all.

 

Whitewood Drive residents attended the meeting asking about the article that was in the Maple Leaf about junk autos.  There is one neighbor that has a yard filled with junk cars, boats and other items.  Mr. Gliha told the Whitewood residents at a prior meeting, that it is up to Trustees to do the best they can with junk vehicles.  This neighbor has had a mess for over 20 years.  Mr. Quigley responded that the Township and the Prosecutor have tried to clean this yard up repeatedly using the zoning process.  Mr. Quigley reported that he has talked to the Zoning Inspector and told him to make Whitewood and Munn Road a priority. 

 

Mr. Fagan reported 183 calls year to date and 30 so far for April for the Fire Department.  The Fire Department is getting closer on their soft billing, Medicare is reviewing the application.  The Fire Department Trustees have been working on an informational brochure to give out to residents

 

Ms. Blair reported on the house that had a fire, the owner has received her check from the insurance company.  She is checking to see if Troy Fire Department will burn it down for her.  Mr. Fagan reported that the final approval of a burn would be the local fire department.  The home owner is preparing to build a new house.

 

Ms. Blair reported that the repairs to the salt shed will begin on Monday April 20, 2015.

 

Mr. Quigley reported on the Veterans Park, there was a problem with the compression ring.  The columns and compression ring will be made by Engineer Endeavors after the final plans have been approved. 

 

Mr. Stefancin reported that they had marked where the 18 trees for the Eagle Scout project would be planted in Oberland Park.

 

Mr. Quigley reported that they are discussing a corn maize on the park land.  He would get the cost of the seed back when he sold entrance fees to the maze.  The Township would have to front the money for the seed and then it would be repaid by the entrance fee.  Heather Fenstermaker was nominated as a new member of the Park Board.  Ms. Blair made a motion to appoint Ms. Fenstermaker to the Park Board, 2nd by Mr. Quigley and a unanimous affirmative vote by all.

 

A clarification to the mail box replacement policy, the homeowner will need to present receipts and will be reimbursed up to $30.00.
