Trustee Meetin 02/09/2017

The special meeting of Newbury Township Trustees and the Park and Rec board was called to order by Glen Quigley at 7:00 p.m., February 9, 2017, with Glen Quigley, Bill Skomrock, Jr. and Jan Blair present. All joined in the pledge of allegiance.

Jim Stefancin and Wayne Mansfield discussed the electric at Oberland Park and the LED lights that are on at night for security, that the sheriff asked for. They will also be lighting the entrance rock and lighting for the volleyball court.

Mr. Quigley reported that the siding on the pavilion has been replaced with Boral. Painting and staining will happen when the weather permits. The eyebrow windows will be installed also.

Mr. Quigley discussed with the rec board facilities and if they need more or different facilities. They have indicated that enrollment was down but is now picking up and they are fine with what is there. The enrollment problem is county wide. The rec board indicated they could use help with funds for fertilizing and cutting the fields.

The rec board has new members coming on board, with members that have students in the school. They are expecting an increase in enrollment.

Mr. Quigley brought up field 5 and access to that field. The rec board indicated at this time they have no real need for field 5 and other ideas for it should be entertained.

Possible projects were, access drive to field 5 area, conversion of field 5 to something more needed/wanted and restrooms.

Carole Drabek discussed the bicentennial. There are flags available, there are selling them in lots of 10 due to cost. The first lot has been sold and she is working on getting enough businesses or people for the 2nd ten.

Jim Stefancin indicated that the owner of Independent Tree wants to put in a skate park in Oberland Park. The township will not fund this and funds would need to be raised.
