Meeting Minutes

August 14, 2014, Newbury Town Hall

Present: Judy Barnhart, Mark Fritch,  Wayne Mansfield , Roger Mezak, , Jim Stefancin

Guest:  trustee Glen Quigley

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:34 p.m.

 

Minutes of August meeting read and approved

 

Glen to post all open township positions soon.

 

 

Oberland Park

 

-Glen talked to Quality Services about fertizing the soccer fields. Trustees OK’d spending$1015.00 for them to fertilize 3x a year. Can’t play on field 24 hours after application. They will give glen notice when plan to apply.

Glen stated he was pretty sure gravel was picked up for the nature trail and may have been spread as it is not stockpiled in parking lot.

-Electrical service still not complete still waiting for weather

-Nothing has been done to repair the damage to the hay field

 

Rt. 87 and Auburn Corner/Veterans Park

-Glen filed a grant request with Chagrin River Watershed Partners on Sept 2nd for $37,000 for parking area based on landscape design.

Only other application from Geauga County is from Middlefield. Award date is to be announced. Glen used the past land use plan developed by the land use committee and Kent State University study as support information for the grant, Which should give us an advantage. Grant needed value of donated services which incleded Impelitti for design plan. Glen will send an electronic file of plans once they are complete Glen talked to Doug Ule to get cost estimates for the parking area and installing a culvert pipe at entrance to park.

 

To date 1000  Exuinox raffle tickets have been sold, ½ of what are available. Glen to sell tickets at Kiwanis Lake dinner. Drawing to be held November 18th at Preston Chevy. Glen would like park board to be in attendance. Glen plans to have other items to raffle off too.

 

Glen and Bob Moon of Tribel Construction met with Pentilla architect who will have stamped architectural and engineering plans for the pavillion done within a week at a cost of $3000. Plans will be what was approved except for minor changes in number and size of joists. There will be metal plates and bolts to give a military look. Project is on tract and will require little maintenance. There are plans to light the pavilion and tank, getting price quotes now. Cupola will have louvers to allow for ventilation. Next need to look at cost of landscaping and trail.

 

Wayne asked about the size of ditch and swale at the corner, including size of culvert pipe
