Meeting Minutes

June 19, 2014, Newbury Town Hall

Present: Judy Barnhart, Mark Fritch,   Les Ober, Wayne Mansfield , Roger Mezak, , Jim Stefancin

Guest:  trustee Glen Quigley

Meeting from june 12 was rescheduled for June 19 wascalled to order at 7:40 p.m.

 

Minutes of May meetings read and approved

 

 

Oberland Park

 

Over father’s Day weekend, vandalism occurred. Graffiti was sprayed on the new dugouts.  And the south side of the entrance rock.

 

Doug Ule is currently working on the parking lot expansion, still waiting for asphalt grindings, could also use some on low spots on trails.

 

RT 87 and Auburn Corner/Veterans Park

-Glen reported that the township did not get the swift grant, project did not score high enough  Glen meeting next Wednesday about another grant. Which is a matching grant

-donated tank could be anything with tracks. Bob from Vets is liason for park bd. There is some cocern about brakes holding the tank if displayed at an angle, also need access to paint or oil the tank.

 -Glen called Impulitti about redoing the plans to remove bioretention cell parking area. Impulliti wants the flat side of the gazebo facing the walkway, not pointy end to allow for steps

 

Suggestion was made to build a natural playground with sandstone blocks and culverts stones standing on end make it look like a cemetery.

 

Roof- Glen met with Troy Weston, who will put a metal roof on cupola, copper may stain but can be made any color we want.

 

 

Glen asked to have gazebo, walkway and tank layout approved minus the parking area

Glen to meet with Tim Grendel about money for project. Glen also working on raising money by raffling off a vehicle donated by Ed Babcock of Junction Auto or Pat Preston from Preston.Les moved to accept conceptual plan as proposed for glen to go ahead and raise money.

Meeting adjourned to Oberland Park to look at what Doug had done to the parking area.

 

Next regular meeting: Thursday, July 10, 2014. Judy will be out of town.
