Meeting Minutes

May 14, 2015, Newbury Town Hall

Present: Judy Barnhart, Mark Fritch, Wayne Mansfield , Roger Mezak, ,  Les Ober, Jim Stefancin, Heather Fenstermaker

Guests: boy scout James Craven, trustee Glen Quigley

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m.

Minutes of April meeting read and approved with corrections.

 

 

Eagle Scout Projects: Mike planted his trees on April 24 and has been watering them when needed. One was vandalized. He stopped to see Judy to get his papers signed off.

Life scout James Craven stopped in to present an Eagle Scout project for approval. He would like to install a full size basketball court with adjustable rims to be completed this sumer.The court by the school playground is too small for adults. Size would be 100’x 60 or 70 ‘. Discussed possible location east of the parking lot or in the jog in the lot. Roger suggested looking at getting power to the court for future from the shelter. James will get a cost estimate on asphault or concrete and how much money he would like to raise as township does not have funds.

 

Oberland Park

--Jim & Wayne installed Volleyball net.

- porta potties were installed May 12

Wayne suggested having the June meeting at the pavilion with a cookout. Les will not be able to attend..

-Newbury Elementary did their annual wetlab days at the park with Geauga Park District & Soil & Water on May 7&8. The theme was soils, weather was great.

-Les and Todd used his skidster to remove some large trees and branches on the trails and put down stone in low areas. Some places need culverts.

-

Rt. 87 and Auburn Corner/Veterans Park

-Impullitti donated $56,000 or 70 hours in services. Glen provided the latest drawings with dementions on the steel ring.

-Driveway will be installed by Memorial Day.

-Grant was filed May 1st to Nature Works that included letters of support from Impulliti and Engineered Endeavors on their monetary and time donations., should hear by June 1st.

Hank Pentilla is reviewing the new drawings and will get blue prints made. Wiring will go inside posts with outlets on the outside, no conduit will be visible. Hank commented how good EE is to work with,
