Newbury Township Park Board

                                                                     Meeting Minutes

February 13,, 2014, Newbury Town Hall

Present: Judy Barnhart, Mark Fritch,   Les Ober, Wayne Mansfield , Roger Mezak, David Snively

Guest:  Trustee Glen Quigley

Meeting called to order at 7:40 p.m.

Minutes of January meeting read and approved with minor correction.

Glen gave his report.

RT 87 and Auburn Corner

- Meeting with Impulitti Landscaping was cancelled and is rescheduled for next week.

-Glen talked to Senator Ecklund about getting state money for development of the corner park. We are in competition with a couple other townships Glen requests park board members send emails to Ecklund encouraging state to fund our project. Glen will send contact information and suggested wording.

OBERLAND PARK DEVELOPMENT

Retention Basin& Parking lot :

Glen talked to Soil & Water and there are no issues with them holding up the parking lot expansion: no study is needed, only need to put up erosion barrios, no longer a need to go to commissioners

-Glen talked to county engineer about getting asphalt grindings for parking lot, Doug Ule willing to spread grindings.

Ball field should be playable by the end of the year with backstop up, parking lot expansion complete and electric done.

Judy led a hike at oberland park trails on February 4th. Doug Zimperman did a great job of opening the parking lot and drive for 10 cars to access. We were the first ones on the trail with all the recent cold and snow.  Saw lots of animal tracks.

 Sam will hold his Eagle Scout Court of honor on April 6th. Invitations will be given out at the next meeting.

 Still trying to sell Grange Park;

 Discussion on possible consolidation of Newbury and Berkshire schools. Meeting adjourned with no other park business to discus.   

Next regular meeting: Thursday, March 13, 2014.
