OBERLAND PARK

Entrance Rock

Meeting held to review engraving design for rock on November 14, design approved, waiting for warmer day to engrave. Suggestion to light sign for easier viewing at night. Could be run from power pole near entrance.

Master Plan

*Chip Hess provided  maps of park with requested revisions: shelter moved closer to road with nearby playground, enlarged parking area, 10 parking spaces along drive near shelter

*Shelter: Susan did conceptual drawing of pole style shelter with truss roof, cupola, and stone at base of posts. Three separate options possible: Type 1 with treated posts wrapped with cedar veneer and imitation stone around base, approximately $23,000; type 2 with actual 10x10 timbers on stone piers approximately $28,000; fireplace option also considered. Susan requested estimates from Junior Gingerich. Jodie asked Mike Kler to look at drawings and give estimate. Roger motioned to accept basic design submitted by Susan, location of shelter approximately 200’ east of Auburn Rd and 35’south of drive (NW of gas well to leave accessibility to well), and for Susan to get three estimates on three options discussed above. Seconded by Jodie. Approved unanimously. Estimates to be submitted at January meeting for final approval.

*Ball Field: Roger request Chip rotate field orientation clockwise a little based on guidelines for safety and viewing (similar orientation to original “J” layout.) Chip to get estimates from Trushel on mass grading, finish grading, grass for outfield, infield clay and separate estimate on drainage. Roger moved to accept general plan of ball field with changes, Judy seconded, motion passed.

*Playground: Bill Skomrack will work with Kiwanis to find grant to pay for small playground.

*Restroom Facilities: Roger asked Chip to get estimate for running sewage line from parking area across field to current pump station by school restroom.

*Front Field: David to check on fertilizing field in spring using money from HUD grant.

Nature Trail

*Geauga Walkers to hike nature trail as part of their weekly hiking series next Tuesday. Jodie and Susan to walk trail with them. Dave to have parking area and drive plowed if needed.

*Discussed marking trail with stakes for people to find easier with snow and leaf cover. Judy would like trial markers and entrance sign used as an Eagle Scout project.

*Les to tap west woods with new wireless tubing lines that can be rolled up after season and taken out. Plans to begin installation end of January.

Next meeting: Special meeting Thursday, January 7, 7:00 p.m. at Newbury Town Hall to review estimates for shelter and ball field. Next regular meeting Thursday, January 21.
